Separate yolks and egg whites. Beat the egg whites until stiff. Whisk the milk, egg and salt until fluffy, then stir in the flour with the mixer on low speed. Finally, carefully fold in the egg whites.

Heat the waffle iron properly (highest setting is best) turn it back a bit and, depending on the waffle iron, pour about a scoop of the mixture onto the waffle iron and bake.

The waffles are usually done when the waffle iron can be lifted again easily.

Carefully remove the waffles from the waffle iron and drizzle with syrup and top with sliced bananas and/or oranges, for example, as desired.

Sugar in the mixture is not necessary, as the maple syrup or jam/hazelnut cream, etc. are sweet enough.
